It looks like Michael Zorc is very buys at the moment. Ömer Toprak, Mahmoud Dahoud and Dan-Axel Zagadou are already signed on for next season and now it looks like another young promising player will join the black and yellows.
According to German outlet kicker Maximilian Philipp is close to joining Borussia Dortmund. He's currently with the German U21 national team to prepare for the European championship tournament this summer, but apparently he missed training today to travel to Dortmund to sign his contract. Reports on the transfer fee are varying with BILD suggesting BVB will pay 20€ million, his reported release clause, while kicker are reporting that it is closer to 14€ million.
The 23-year-old player from SC Freiburg is very versatile, and is able to play as a winger or striker. Freiburg mostly used him as a free-roaming player behind their main striker last season and it paid off, in 27 games he scored 9 goals and had 5 assists.
It will be interesting to see where Dortmund plan to use him next season, rumors suggest that he's a replacement for Marco Reus who will probably miss an extended period of time due to injury. In addition he could also help out at striker where BVB are a bit thin after selling Ramos and now possibly Aubameyang. However it is doubtful that Philipp is seen as a replacement for Aubameyang should he leave.
What do you think, a good signing? Let us know in the comments.
