The United States Men’s National Team struggled to a 1-1 draw with Venezuela yesterday during a friendly at Rio Tinto Stadium in Utah. The USMNT was down for much of the game, but then a familiar face stepped up to level the score.
Christian Pulisic got his 5th goal for the US senior team, and it was a pretty nice goal.
Venezuela’s keeper probably should have saved it, but Pulisic did very well just to get a shot off. He had two defenders on him, but took a couple touches to dance around them and find space to release his shot.
The friendly comes before the US faces Trinidad & Tobago on June 8th in a World Cup Qualifying match in Denver, Colorado. Pulisic is the US’ best player right now, and probably will be for the foreseeable future. Surely Bruce Arena will start him in that WCQ match as well.
The future only gets brighter and brighter for this kid. Hopefully he keeps this form up through the summer, and all the way through to the beginning of Borussia Dortmund’s next season in August.
