The Borussia Dortmund backline will receive some much needed reinforcement this summer with the addition of yet another young defender, Dan-Axel Zagadou.
WAZ is reporting that Dortmund will announce the signing of Zagadou from Paris-Saint Germain B on a free transfer. The 17-year-old center back appears to be the latest academy product and teenager to sign with Dortmund in recent years.
Zagadou is already standing tall at 6’3” and is garnering comparison from WAZ to former Dortmund defender Mats Hummels. If the reports are true, it means that Dortmund beat out Manchester City, Arsenal, and RB Leipzig in the race to secure Zagadou’s signing.
The addition of Zagadou comes at a crucial time for Dortmund as they continue to rebuild the backline. With rumors swirling of Matthias Ginter’s potential departure, Zagadou will help fill the void in the backline along with Dzenis Burnic.
