  • Merino ready to leave Dortmund?

Mikel Merino hasn't really been a factor this season for Borussia Dortmund appearing in only nine games throughout the entire season. Unless the 20-year-old is about to evolve drastically over the summer it isn't expected that his situation will change with Weigl, Sahin, Guerreiro, Castro and the incoming Dahoud being ahead of him on the depth chart.

This is why Merino is one of the prime candidates for a transfer out of Dortmund this offseason. Until now the idea was to loan him out and see if he could come back after one year but now it seems like Dortmund wouldn't be deterred to sell him. According to Spanish outlet El Correo claims that Atheltic Bilbao would be interested to acquire the youngster for 5€ million. Bilbao who are known for only having players with a Basque heritage would be interested in Merino who was born in Pamplona.

  • BVB scouting in Italy

According to mercato365.com Dortmund scouts were in Italy to watch the Sassuolo-Fiorentina game. The reported targets for the black and yellows are Domenico Berardi (22) and Nikola Kalinic (29).

Berardi has been linked to a slew of European clubs over the past couple years and it will probably be just a question "when" not "if" he moves away from Sassuolo. The Italian international can play both winger positions although he prefers to play on the right wing. This season he has appeared in 22 games scoring 9 goals and amassing 8 assists.

Kalinic would be an interesting Auba-replacement. The 29-year-old has scored 19 goals in 40 games across all competitions this season for Fiorentina adding 4 assists in the process. The Croation's contract expires in 2019 and would probably be a solid choice if Zorc decides to replace Aubameyang with multiple players. An experienced striker like Kalinic in addition to a talent like Schick, Dolberg or Iheanacho could be a solid combination going forward.
