Julian Weigl out for 3-4 months

After a hard to watch game in Augsburg the news only gets worse for BVB. Our key player Julian Weigl will miss the last game against Werder Bremen and the Pokal Final against Frankfurt with a broken ankle. BVB report that he will be out for 3-4 months which means he will not play in any summer friendlies as well. If we are lucky he will be back to start the next season.

Weigl is by far our most important player. His distribution and decision making makes our team what it is. Without him we would not be in a UCl spot. This injury puts BVB in a rough spot since we need to better TSG’s result in the last week of the season to secure third place. Rode and Castro will have to fit in as replacements for Weigl, but neither of their talents equals what Julian is able to do on the pitch. With Weigl’s injury it will be unlikely that anyone comes calling for him this summer as rumors swirl about an exit to one of the “big three” clubs.

We wish you all the best in your recovery Julian!
