- Injury problems
Thomas Tuchel has to improvise once again during this season. Injuries have hit the black and yellows hard in the first half of the season and the second half isn't much better. Sebastian Rode and Marco Reus are back in training but they aren't ready to play actual games. Erik Durm will definitely miss tomorrows game as well as Sokratis who received his fifth yellow card in the Revierderby last Saturday. Meanwhile Marcel Schmelzer and Julian Weigl are both questionable for the game against Hamburg.
- DFL agree to a new deal
The DFL has announced a new deal with the Chinese firm Sunning Commerce Group that will bring the DFL 250€ million over the next 5 years. The Bundesliga is trying to solidify their position in China after a report from earlier this year suggested that the Bundesliga is the most popular foreign football league in China.
This is another good move for the DFL in order to close the gap on the Premier League in terms of international marketing and revenue. It will be a long way to go before they are on the same level but the increasing popularity of clubs like Bayern München and Borussia Dortmund certainly helps.
