Borussia Dortmund and SC Freiburg have agreed to a deal for young defender Pascal Stenzel. The 21-year-old right-back joined the Breisgauer on loan in January 2016 and had a solid first season in the Bundesliga with 16 appearances (1 goal, 2 assists). There is no official statement concerning the agreed upon fee but it is rumored to be around 4€ million, it is also possible that Stenzel's contract has a buy-back clause.

In recent weeks the rumors about a possible transfer intensified with Christian Streich openly talking about Freiburg's wish to keep Stenzel. While the youngster is certainly talented, Dortmund simply saw no use for him with Lukasz Piszczek, Erik Durm and Felix Passlack already on the roster for next season.

Michael Zorc released an official statement regarding the transfer: "We have taken into account the will of the player, who has developed very well in Freiburg and who would like to continue his career there. We wish Pascal every success in achieving his goals, and will observe his progress from distance."

What do you think, a good move for the youngster? Let us know in the comments.
