Injuries have taken their toll on Borussia Dortmund at times this season.
It was worse earlier in the campaign, but BVB have never really been at full strength this year. But two more oft-injured squad players seem to be coming close to returns.
WAZ is reporting that Sven Bender and Nuri Sahin will lineup for BVB II when they face Victoria Koln on Saturday.
It’s been a very boring international break, but this is good news. Bender has not played since he suffered an ankle injury in the January 17th friendly with Paderborn. Sahin has not played since the 4-1 win over Gladbach in early December, although he was an unused substitute for last week’s cup match with Lotte.
Sahin has not been able to contribute much over the past few seasons, but Sven Bender is still a quality bit of depth. We could use another option at CB, especially one that could possibly allow Thomas Tuchel to play with 3 central defenders.
Here’s hoping both can effectively return to the playing field in the near future.
