Borussia Dortmund announced the transfer of Ömer Toprak for the next season. The 27-year-old centerback from Bayer Leverkusen will join the black and yellows and sign a 4-year contract until 2021. Toprak has a release-clause in his contract that will allow Dortmund to buy him for (supposedly) 12€ million.

The Turkish international is the captain of Bayer Leverkusen and has appeared in 181 Bundesliga games for them and SC Freiburg. He was a target for Zorc & Co. last summer and this winter but the deal fell through because of the high demands of Leverkusen which will not be the case this summer because of the release-clause.

Toprak has been one of the best CBs in the Bundesliga for years now and it is the logical next step for Dortmund who have struggled to find the right partner for Sokratis in the heart of the defense. Marc Bartra and Matthias Ginter have made individual mistakes all season long and Sven Bender has been injured for most of the season.

Welcome to Dortmund Ömer, we'll see you in the summer!
