The Daily Bee (February 24th, 2017): Silly rumors

  • This week in "Ridiculous Rumors"

We're linked to another young striker, Jean-Kévin Augustin (19) from PSG. According to French outlet L'Equipe, Dortmund have agreed to a transfer of the young striker that would make him the replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the summer, he would cost us 8€ million.

Spoiler: It won't happen. This is either a ploy from an agent to get more money in the next contract negotiations, PSG's desire to get Auba or a paper that had to fill a page so decided to go with this story. If Auba leaves we will definitely replace him with a more experienced striker than a 19-year-old kid that has barely played professional football. Ruhr Nachrichten, who are the most reliable source when it come to BVB-news have already come out and denied the story, saying that he was on Dortmund's radar (before the Isak-transfer) but that Dortmund has other priorities right now.

Another odd one has been launched by kicker, apparently RB Leipzig are interested in signing Matthias Ginter. Is it feasible that Dortmund will have to sell one (or two) centerbacks this offseason. With the arrival of Ömer Toprak and the possible return of Neven Subotic Dortmund would suddenly have an abundance of CBs. Sokratis and Sven Bender will definitely stay and it is hard to see Marc Bartra leave after just one season. In addition there is Patrick Fritsch, who is one of the most promising young talents in Dortmund's youth system right now. It is possible that Ginter will be sold in the summer but there's no way Zorc let's him go to the Red Bulls.

  • Weidenfeller contract talks

Roman Weidenfeller's contract runs out this summer and there have been no talks about his future just yet. However Michael Zorc confirmed that this will happen shortly. Even though it is ultimately BVB's decision if they want to extend, this really is up to Roman and what he wants to do. If he wants to stay, they'll extend for a year, if he wants one last big payday, he'll go to China or the MLS and if he wants to retire then he'll get a job with the club (probably).

  • Europa League results

Fiorentina 2-4 Gladbach

Tottenham 2-2 Gent

Lyon 7-1 Alkmaar

Just a few interesting results from last night. Gladbach came back in this game after trailing 0-2 (0-3 on aggregate) thanks to a hattrick from Lars Stindl in 11 minutes to advance to the next round. Somewhat surprisingly Tottenham drew Gent at home and are now out of the EL, adding to the misery of EPL-teams in international competitions. Oh and, HOLY CRAP WHAT HAPPENED IN LYON!!

Daily Buzz: If Weide retires, is Bürki good enough to take over as the full-time number 1 or should we look elsewhere?
