- Fiscal report
Borussia Dortmund have released a report of their first half of the fiscal year for the 2016/17 season. The report shows a turnover of €214.2 million, an increase over last year's €168.1 million. The increase is due to the fact that Dortmund play in the Champions League this season as opposed to the Europa League.
It is probably that the black and yellows will have total revenue of over €400 million for the first time in the clubs history. The current record stands at €376.3 million.
This is still a far cry out from most other international top-teams but Watzke & Co. have the club on the right track if you think about the near financial collapse ten years ago.
- Naby Keita signs new deal with RB Leipzig
Keita (22) has been one of the revelations of the season in the Bundesliga and now it looks like he'll sign a new deal with the Red Bull-team. BILD reported yesterday that Keita was also on Zorc's shortlist for the summer but with this extension a possible deal is definitely off the table, we'll just have to do with another young midfielder then.
- The Champions League is back
Even though Dortmund will have to wait until March to avenge their Champions League loss against Benfica, there is still some CL-action today.Bayer Leverkusen will take on Atletico Madrid while Manchester City will host Monaco.
The Werkself has been struggling this season but they are still a very good counter-attacking team which could make the difference between those two teams.
Pep Guardiola and his team are the clear-cut favorites to win their match-up with Monaco but they shouldn't underestimate a young and talented young team that has the potential to surprise some people. My personal tip, keep an eye on Kylian Mbappé and Thomas Lemar in that game.
