Apparently, yesterday wasn’t some sick dream. Dortmund did actually lose 1-0 to Benfica, in a game where the away side dominated. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang did miss three easy chances at goal, including a penalty.
To see just how dominant BVB were, check out this xG chart, courtesy of our friend Michael Caley.

In case you’re unfamiliar with xG, the bigger the square means the better the chance. The pink represents a goal.
According to this chart, those chances for Auba were the three biggest chances of the match. It may have been his worst ever performance for Dortmund.
But still, we shouldn’t be too harsh on PEA. Every player has bad days at the office. There is no questioning that he’s still a top striker.
Having said that, he still needs to put at least one of those chances into the back of the net.
But that’s enough about Yesterday.
On to the links...
Dortmund away fans delayed entry to Benfica match
It took quite a while for some traveling Dortmund fans to get into their seats in Lisbon yesterday. Some didn’t even make it in until just before halftime. This was due to an error with the ticketing system.
It’s very unfair to those who made the trip. Imagine going all that way, spending all that money, and then only getting to witness 45 minutes of football?
It doesn’t happen much in Champions League, but they really should have delayed the kickoff of the match. Look at these crowds outside after kickoff!
