- Akanji-deal collapsing?
So far there were only two names mentioned as possible additions for Dortmund once the transfer window opens on January 1st, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Manuel Akanji. While the return of Mkhitaryan doesn’t seem to be a priority, signing a new young centerback would seem like a good idea but it seems BVB hit a road bump in the negotiations with FC Basel.
Until now the rumored fee was supposed to be 20€ million but according to Bild the Swiss club is now demanding over 30€ million for the 22-year-old defender. The rising demands are due to other clubs, namely Liverpool and Tottenham, also being interested. Dortmund was apparently willing to spend up to 25€ million for the CB but will now reevaluate their options.
One of them could be Yerry Mina (23) from Palmeiras Sao Paulo according to the same Bild-report. The black and yellows already made an offer of 27€ million but Barcelona are also interested.
This could be true considering Basel are surely trying to get the best deal possible but on the other hand this is also the same outlet that claimed just a few days ago that Dortmund would sign Maximiliano Romero only for him to sign for PSV Eindhoven just a couple days later.
- New Schürrle suitor?
According to a report from The Guardian West Ham might be interested to sign André Schürrle on loan this January. The English side is the second team with a supposed interest in the winger who needs consistent playing time in order to make Germany’s World Cup roster.
