  • BVB lead Akanji hunt

Liverpool just signed Virgil van Dijk for 75£ million (84€ million), breaking the world record for defenders when it comes to transfer fees. Why is that important you ask? Well, Liverpool was supposed to be the only real competitor for Manuel Akanji, the centerback from FC Basel who BVB are trying to sign. Now that Liverpool signed their CB it’s likely Dortmund will be able to sign Akanji. However it is still unclear if Basel will let him go in January or if they want to keep him until next summer, according to various reports the Swiss club is asking for 20€ million.

  • Injured players return

Thankfully Peter Stöger will have more options when the Bundesliga resumes in January. Mario Götze, Lukasz Pisczcek and Erik Durm will all return to team training once the team gets back together in early January. Gonzalo Castro’s return is also imminent. Marco Reus is currently training individually in Dubai and is on schedule for a February return.

  • André Schürrle to Stuttgart?

As per usual there are several transfer rumors surrounding a club like Dortmund around this time. Some players would apparently be allowed to leave if an offer would come for them, among them are Sebastian Rode, Erik Durm and André Schürrle. There haven’t been any concrete offers for any of them yet but there are some rumors about a possible transfer of Schürrle to Stuttgart. According to Ruhr Nachrichten Stuttgart would be keen on signing him but they probably don’t have the funds to get a transfer done. However a loan-move with a possible clause to buy him in the summer could be feasible for them.
