Another game another loss.

Dortmund lost 2-1 to Spurs today at home in the UEFA Champions League. With this loss we are now eliminated from the UCL. We didn’t have much of a chance from the start as we needed everything to break our way in the first place. Our goal came from Aubameyang and the two Tottenham goals were from Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son.

The first half went really well for BVB. We looked the best we have in over a month. Aubameyang blew one easy chance but made up for it with a calm finish a few minutes later off a backheel pass from Yarmolenko. The rest of the half we looked good defensively, and any mistakes we had were saved by Burki, who was very good all game. Harry Kane did Harry Kane things at the end of the half and tied it up 1-1. Even the best defenses in the world have trouble locking down the English star.

In the second half we did not play nearly as well. We failed to create any notable chances and let Spurs have the lions share of possession. This led of course to the inevitable Heung Min Son goal. Son has scored 8 goals in his last 10 games against us.... that’s insane. The only other thing of note this game was Burki getting a head injury at the end of the game and having to be taken off. Hopefully it is not a concussion as we clearly need him for the derby this weekend.

Well this UCL campaign somehow ended on a worse note then last years. Hopefully we can start a league comeback against Gazprom 04, if not this season may take a even worse turn.
