A BVB-legend and favorite has sadly passed away at the age of 75 years. Kurrat was born and raised in Dortmund and played his entire career with the black and yellows, never giving in to tempting offers from other clubs. Between 1956 and 1974 he played 612 games for Dortmund winning the German championship in 1963, the DFB Cup in 1965 and the European Cup winners cup in 1966. From 1971 to 1974 he was the captain of the team.
Hans-Joachim Watzke expressed his condolences and remembered “Hoppy”, saying “I lost a good friend. The memories of the many great moments will never fade.”. The team will play tomorrow’s game against Hannover 96 with a black ribbon in memory of Dieter Kurrat.
Ruhe in Frieden, Hoppy! Wir werden dich nie vergessen!
