- Mikel Merino switch to NFC permanent
It’s official, Mikel Merino’s loan deal to Newcastle has been made into a permanent move. The Spaniard already played the required amount of games to give the Premier League-side the obligation to acquire him. Dortmund will get an additional 7€ million to the initial 3€ million loan-fee, so 10€ million total.
Zorc and Watzke have made some excellent moves during their tenure in Dortmund and had a pretty good summer but it still feels like this transfer will go down as one of their rare mistakes in the transfer market.
Nevertheless good luck to The Don in England.
- Injury-update
Unfortunately Lukasz Piszczek has returned from international duty with an injury and will miss a significant period of time. Until he is back, Jeremy Toljan and Dan-Axel Zagadou will be the fullback pairing. Luckily for BVB it seems like Raphael Guerreiro will be back shortly. The Portuguese left back has resumed team practice after missing the start of the season with an ankle injury.
Meanwhile, Sokratis will probably be ready for the game. The centerback picked up an injury but it does not seem to be serious, he completed training yesterday and is scheduled to start against Leipzig tomorrow.
