Well...let’s talk about the positive things first

France and Portugal were the next two European teams that qualified for the World Cup.

Les Bleus secured their place in the tournament with a 2-1 victory over Belarus and Portugal won 2-0 at home against Switzerland to surpass them on goal difference on the last matchday.

In South America, Columbia and Lionel Messi(+10 other guys) also qualified. Argentina, the finalist just four years ago, was on the brink of missing the World Cup entirely. Luckily for them, having the best player in the world in your team pays off. Messi scored all three goals in Argentina’s 3-1 victory over Ecuador to secure their place among the 32 nations participating next year.

In the CONCACAF, Panama was the team to join Mexico and Costa Rica as the teams that qualify for the World Cup which brings us to...

  • USA misses the World Cup

The USMNT lost 1-2 to Trinidad & Tobago and missed the World Cup.

The only good thing coming out of this is that Christian Pulisic will now definitely join BVB’s preseason tour in the US next summer, so at least there’s that.
