- Aubameyang says he wants to leave
The "Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is leaving Dortmund" aren't especially new and most of the time they are just a fabrication to get people's attention. It's also true that Auba has stated before that Real Madrid is his dream and that he would love to play for them. Now he doubled down on that.
Speaking to French radio station RMC he said: "(...) I'm thinking about leaving this summer.(...) I'm 27. If I want to reach the next level then I have to leave this summer."
Ouch.
I've said this before, I definitely prefer the honesty over the route that Mats Hummels or Mario Götze took before they left but I still feel that this is somewhat disrespectful to the club. At a time where the team is struggling and needing cohesion and hard work we have one of the veterans talk about leaving and adding fuel to the fire. Right now is just not the time to talk about those things.
- Deadline-day deals
As expected Borussia Dortmund was not involved in any deals on the last day of the transfer window. However some other Bundesliga teams were involved in some interesting transfers so let's take a look.
Moritz Leitner is back in the Bundesliga! The ex-BVB player has signed a deal with FC Augsburg after his short stint in the Serie A with Lazio Roma. "Mo" was unable to break into the Lazio-squad during his time with the team. Hopefully he'll fare better with Augsburg.
Leon Bailey has joined Bayer Leverkusen. The 19-year-old Jamaican winger, who was also linked with Dortmund, has signed a deal through 2022 with the Werkself and is an exciting young talent that showcased his potential in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League for KRC Genk for the past two years. He'll be an interesting player to watch in the coming years.
SV Darmstadt get Hamit Altintop. The Turkish ex-Gelsenkirchen player has signed a deal with Darmstadt until the end of the season. The Lilien hope that his experience can help them avoid relegation.
