Borussia Dortmund have continued to express interest in adding a new name this January, and it looks as if they have a high chance to land either Vincent Koziello from OGC Nice or Jean-Kevin Augustin from Paris-Saint Germain.

TuttoMercato has reported that Dortmund sit in pole position to land Koziello either in January or, most likely, in June. Other clubs looking to swoop the French youngster include Inter Milan, AC Milan, and Arsenal.

Since 2014, Koziello has made 64 appearances in all competitions for Nice, scoring four goals - a staggeringly low total for an attacking midfielder. In Ligue 1 this season, Koziello has appeared in 13 games, scoring one goal on one shot attempt.

At age 21, Koziello provides the youthfulness Dortmund seeks, but that’s about it. He’s an undersized midfielder at 5’6” and seems hapless in front of goal. His lack of touch and high price of around 11 million euros makes Koziello less desirable for Dortmund.

Goal.com reports that Dortmund and Tottenham are looking to land Jean-Kevin Augustin by 2018 at the latest. The speedy French striker has inserted himself as the backup for Edinson Cavani at PSG and is quickly learning from the Uruguayan star.

Augustin has made 11 appearances for PSG in Ligue 1 this season, scoring once on ten shot attempts and adding two assists. His offensive ability compliments the style of play in Dortmund making him a potential perfect fit.

With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s contract running through June of 2020, Augustin’s potential addition between now and the summer of 2018 would give him time to learn from Aubameyang in time to take the reigns from the Gabonese striker if Dortmund decides to sell him in the future.

As always, these are only speculation and nothing official has been announced. Stay tuned for more transfer window updates as the January window inches closed.
