With the 2016/17 season kicking off not just for our main team, but also for our youth teams, we present a three-part all-you-need-to-know summary about the youth teams.

Part 1 of 2 provided a quick summary of what happened last season. Part 2 of 3 will cover the summer transfers. Part 3 of 3 will tell you what to expect this season.

Borussia Dortmund II

Transfers in:

From Borussia Dortmund U19:

  • Jan Reckert (goalkeeper)
  • Till Schumacher (left back)
  • Oguzhan Aydogan (left wing)
  • Jonas Arweiler (center forward)
  • Dominik Reimann ( goalkeeper)

From other clubs:

  • Khaled Narey (right back) - from SC Paderborn (end of loan)
  • Herbert Bockhorn (right back) - from SC Wiedenbrück (free)
  • Moritz Fritz (central midfield) - from RW Essen (free)
  • Massih Wassey (attacking midfield) - from SC Wiedenbrück (free)
  • Hamadi Ghaddioui (center forward) - from SC Verl (free)
  • Henrik Bartsch (center forward) - from Nürnberg U19 (free)
  • Moustapha Diatta (center back) - from SM Caen U19 (undisclosed)

Transfers out:

  • Oguzhan Kefkir (left wing) - to VfR Aalen (free)
  • Steffen Göcke (goalkeeper)
  • Mark-Patrick Redl (goalkeeper)
  • Domagoj Drozdek (attacking midfield)
  • Tammo Harder (center forward) - to Holstein Kiel (free)
  • Nico Knystock (right back) - to SV Rödinghausen (free)
  • Marian Sarr (center back) - to Wolfsburg II (free)
  • Marvin Ducksch (center forward) - to FC St Pauli (200k Euros)

Borussia Dortmund II lost a few important people in Sarr, Harder and Ducksch. The promotion of Schumacher and and Reimann might fill the defensive gap. Replacing Marvin Ducksch is more difficult, but Hamadi Al Ghaddioui could be a star.

Borussia Dortmund U19

Transfers in:

From Borussia Dortmund U17:

  • Hüseyin Bulut (center forward)
  • Ngemba Michael Luyambula (keeper)
  • Jan-Niklas Beste (left back)
  • Yoel Yilma (central midfield)
  • Julian Schwermann (defensive midfield)
  • Jan Stuhldreier (central midfield)
  • Sören Lippert (center back)
  • Tim Sechelmann (defensive midfield)
  • Gabriel Kyeremateng (center forward)
  • Robin Wodniok (center forward)
  • Luca Kilian (center back)
  • Alexander Schulte (right back)
  • Dominik Wanner (left wing)

From other clubs:

  • Will Pulisic (keeper) - from Richmond Strikers (free)
  • Orel Mangala (central midfield) - from RSC Anderlecht (loan)
  • Jano Baxmann (left wing) - from Werder Bremen U17

Transfers out:

To Borussia Dortmund/Borussia Dortmund II:

  • Dzenis Burnic (central midfield) - to Borussia Dortmund
  • Dominik Reimann (goalkeeper) - to Borussia Dortmund II
  • Jan Reckert (goalkeeper) - to Borussia Dortmund II
  • Till Schumacher (left back) - to Borussia Dortmund II
  • Oguzhan Aydogan (left wing) - to Borussia Dortmund II
  • Jonas Arweiler (center forward) - to Borussia Dortmund II

To other clubs:

  • Oguzhan Aydogan (right wing) - to Besiktas II (200k Euros)
  • Nils Burchardt (defensive midfield)
  • Sandy Husic (right back) - to Wuppertaler SV (free)
  • Mert Sahin (center back) - to TSG Neustrelitz (free)
  • Tarik Kurt (center forward) - to Oberhausen U19 (free)
  • Berkant Güner (central midfield) - to Braunschweg U19 (free)

The U19's lost Schumacher and Reimann to Borussia Dortmund II, and Burnic joins Passlack and Pulisic in the first team. They gained a whole lot of new players from the U17's as well as Orel Mangala and Will Pulisic. I expect good things from seventeen year old Niklas Beste.

Borussia Dortmund U17

  • Michele Cordi (keeper)

  • Torge Witteborg (defense)
  • Georgios Pintidis (central midfield)
  • Marius von Cysewski (right back)
  • Mohammed El Gourari (defense)
  • Robin Kehr (center forward)
  • Lucien Hawryluk (keeper)
  • Maik Reimer (midfield)
  • Julius Schell (midfield)
  • Marco Ehmann (center back)

From other clubs:

  • Constantin Fath (central midfield) - from Kaiserslautern U17 (free)
  • Florian Rausch (midfield) - from Hombrucher SV Judgend (free)

Transfers out:

To Borussia Dortmund U19:

  • Sören Lippert (center back)
  • Tim Sechelmann (defensive midfield)
  • Gabriel Kyeremateng (center forward)
  • Robin Wodniok (center forward)
  • Luca Kilian (center back)
  • Alexander Schulte (right back)
  • Dominik Wanner (left wing)
  • Hüseyin Bulut (center forward)
  • Ngemba Michael Luyambula (keeper)
  • Jan-Niklas Beste (left back)
  • Yoel Yilma (central midfield)
  • Julian Schwermann (defensive midfield)

To other clubs:

  • Marcel Exner (center forward) - to Münster U19 (free)
  • Philipp Wagner (center back) - to Wuppertal U19 (free)
  • Semih Zengin (left wing)
  • Hapsuno Yildiz (center back) - to Bielefeld U19 (free)
  • Björn Heußen (keeper)
  • Julian Horstmann (midfield)
  • Miguel Blanco (defensive midfield) - to Frankfurt U19 (free)
  • Sefa Topcu (left back)

Once again, the entire U17 team got re-shuffled. Don't think it'll phase them much. A lot of these players have played together in the U16 and the academy.

This was part 2 of a 3 part series - keep an eye out for part 3!
