There are somethings you can only hope will happen in life. Like dunking a basketball (I’m almost there). Or winning gold at the Olympics (Not almost there). Or being able to fly (Still working on this one). Or...seeing Borussia Drtomund play in the US (it’s happening). It’s happening?

IT’S HAPPENING! THEY’RE COMING! DIE SCHWARZGELBEN ARE COMING TO THE USA!!!

Ok it’s North America. But chances are BVB will tour the states as part of the International Champions Cup (ICC), which has only had American venues for their North America tournament.

Watzke announced the team’s (likely) US tour at a press conference Friday afternoon. More specifically, the Black and Yellows will be in the far east again next year before turning their international attention to Northern and Latin America.

Tour plans were just one part of the revealing preseason press conference. Watzke also highlighted record earnings last year which is especially impressive in a year without Champions League football.

Our fearless leader also pointed out that BVB’s top 10 UEFA ranking has put us on strong footing with corporate sponsors. We finished last season at #8 and now sit at #7 at the end of preseason, ahead of “big” clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool, and Manchester United. Apparently they’re “yuuuge” everywhere but on the pitch...and maybe their hands.

Watzke finished the press conference on a more candid/sporting note. Unlike the constantly rising cost of attending Premier League games, BVB tickets and concessions will remain at the same price. He also reiterated the club’s public goal of qualifying to the Champions League while predicting a slow start to the season. Watzke closed by finally demonstrated some strong ambition and leaving the possibility of a title open.

Here’s to hoping BVB can soar on the field, around the world, and level the financial playing field! Echte liebe!
