According to a report from kicker, Ömer Toprak will not join Borussia Dortmund this offseason.
BVB vertraut Sokratis & Co. - Toprak kommt erst 2017 - Dortmund will auch bei Subotic-Abgang nicht nachbessern #BL https://t.co/Huu3O9UyLN

The likely departure from Neven Subotic, who will reportedly join FC Middlesbrough, had sparked new speculation about a possible transfer from Toprak to BVB after the initial negotiations failed because of the high demands from Leverkusen. Several outlets report Leverkusen request a fee in excess of €20 million to let their captain leave, a demand Watzke and Zorc are (understandably) unwilling to meet.
The black and yellows will instead place their trust in the players at hand, namely Sokratis, Marc Bartra, Sven Bender and Matthias Ginter. This also puts an end to any rumors regarding an exit from Ginter, the young German was linked with Wolfsburg and Hamburg in the last couple weeks.
However if you were looking forward to the thought of Toprak in a BVB-jersey, fear not your wishes will be granted...in 2017. In the same article kicker mentions that Dortmund and the Turkish international already have an agreement in place for next year. By that time a release clause in Toprak's contract will activate that will allow him to leave the "Werkself" for €12 million, a much more reasonable fee for the experienced CB.
What do you think fellow BVB-fans, is this the right decision? Do we have enough depth to absorb the losses of Hummels and Subotic or should we spend big on another CB?
