Borussia Dortmund reveals new squad numbers

There will be some new jersey numbers on the field this summer for BVB, here's who will be wearing what.

There's certainly been quite a few roster moves this summer made by Borussia Dortmund. With many new faces already entering the fray, Dortmund fans will also be seeing quite a few new numbers on the pitch come next season. Here's what you need to know.

NUMBER CHANGES:

Nuri Sahin #8 - The Turkish midfielder will assume the jersey number previously worn by Ilkay Gundogan. Sahin switched from his #18 shirt last season. The #18 jersey currently remains vacant.

NEW PLAYER NUMBERS:

Marc Bartra #5 - The former FC Barcelona man wore #15 for his club and #4 for his country. It looks like Bartra chose to go with #5 this season. Perhaps he's showing reverence to Hummels by leaving #15 vacant. He will be the first #5 since Sebastian Kehl donned the jersey.

Ousmane Dembele #7 - After wearing #23 at Stade Rennais, Dembele opted for a swith to the #7 jersey this season. He will be the first #7 since Jonas Hofmann wore it before his January transfer.

Emre Mor #9 - Not even a day in town and he already has his number. The young Turk previously wore the #29 for both club and country. The last #9 was Adnan Januzaj, who's disappointing loan to Dortmund ended in January.

Sebastian Rode #18 - The ex-Bayern midfielder will don the same number worn by Sahin last season after wearing #20 in Munich.

Mikel Merino #24 - The Spaniard wore #32 for Osasuna last season and has worn #6 for Spain's U19 team. He will be wearing Marian Sarr's old jersey number in Dortmund.

As more players come and go, stay tuned for any other number changes on the Dortmund squad list.
