WATCH: Blaszczykowski, Shaqiri trade goals

The first match of the knockout stages at the 2016 UEFA European Championships saw Poland and Switzerland meet in Saint Etienne. After both teams spent the majority of the first half feeling each other out, the White Eagles got on the board first.

Backup goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski began the sequence with a long throw to Valon Behrami. Racing up the left flank, Behrami eventually cut through into the middle at the edge of the attacking penalty area. Behrami was able to pick out Jakub Blaszczykowski on the right side and Kuba calmly slotted home his shot.

The lead was eventually erased as Switzerland remained persistent. On a tricky deflection, Xherdan Shaqiri sent an overhead kick just past Fabianski, sending Swiss fans into delirium.

Shaqiri's strike, which has been thrust into the top spot for goal of the tournament, forced extra-time in an utterly thrilling affair. Check out both world-class goals above.
