WATCH: Jakub Blaszczykowski give Poland a 1-0 lead

The Dortmund winger came on as a substitute to deliver Poland's opening goal.

Poland, taking on the already eliminated Ukraine in the final Group C match, were looking to find its way through into the knockout stage of the 2016 European Championships.

Both of Borussia Dortmund's Polish players, Lukasz Piszczek and Jakub Blaszczykowski, began the game on the bench. The first half of the match was uneventful and both teams went into the break without a goal.

To start the second half, Poland brought on Blaszczykowski to replace Piotr Zielinski in an attempt to generate more offense. And within ten minutes, the gamble worked.

A corner kick for Poland was taken short by Arkadiusz Milik who tapped it to Bartosz Kapustka. The latter sent a return pass to Milik at the top corner of the 18-yard-box. Kuba sat undefended in the middle of the box, and Milik threaded a ball through to him. A couple of cutback moves freed up space for Kuba to send a curling shot into the back of the net.
