Another young talent for Dortmund.
Der Transfer von Orel Mangala ist fix. Der Belgier ist vorerst für die U19 vorgesehen.— BVBJugend (@BVBJugend) June 10, 2016
Translation: The transfer of Orel Mangala is done. The Belgian will play for the U19.
Orel Mangala joins the black and yellows from RSC Anderlecht, where he played as a central midfielder for their U19 team. With that team he was able to reach the semi-finals of this years UEFA Youth League. During the tournament that is comparable to a youth version of the Champions League, he appeared in 8 games and had 2 assists.
The young player was one of Belgium's best players during last Octobers U17-World Cup where they were able to achieve a third-place finish. Mangala played in all seven games.
The young prospect will play for the U19-team and hopefully develop there until he is ready for first team action. Anyhow, Michael Zorc seems to follow the same strategy that made Borussia Dortmund so successful in recent years, sign or loan them young, little-known players and develop them.
Welcome Orel Mangala.
Update: This article was edited to correct the transfer agreement. Mangala was loaned to us, we did not sign him. BVB have an option to buy him at the end of the loan.
