Asked BFW's Ryan Cowper some questions about Bayern before our match up this weekend.
FTW: Bayern won the Bundesliga this year but struggled towards the end bailing out of UCL and making the title race an actual race. What happened to Bayern in the last month of the season and do you see that affecting them in the the final?
Ryan Cowper: Really nothing happened to Bayern Munich in the last month of the season that wasn't expected. Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid were always going to be a tough ask given the way they play
matches up extremely well against Bayern Munich's play style. Losing on away goals was disappointing, but not really catastrophic or indicative of issues with the team. Bayern drawing (or losing) to
Borussia Mönchengladbach is basically a season fixture at this point given Bayern haven't won against them in two full seasons now. Really, Bayern letting BVB back into the title race was a product of
a)the draw with Dortmund and b)Martin Schmidt's masterpiece display with Mainz in March.
FTW: It's no secret now, Mats Hummels is returning to Bayern. Will Hummels playing the in the Final upset Bayern fans if he ends up being a factor in a BVB win?
RC: Probably. Bayern fans already don't like Mats Hummels given his outspoken criticism of the club in the past and taking another title away from Bayern Munich will probably just extend those feelings until
he finally dons Bayern red.
FTW: Final score prediction? Who scores and who's MOTM?
RC: This seems like a copout but I really do think this is a 1-1 draw with goals from Lewandowksi and Mkhitaryan. MOTM in that scenario comes from whoever walks out of the penalty shootout the victor
