Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic will miss the remainder of the season with arm thrombosis, the club announced this morning.
The Serbian has been a regular in Dortmund's side as of late, but will be unable to take part in any contact sport while he recovers and will go by his own training routine.
Replacing Subotic on the roster for the rest of the year will be Dortmund U-23 star Jon Gorenc Stankovic. The Slovenian youngster has been named to Europa League squads on numerous occasions and was also included in BVB's preseason roster.
Despite the injury blow, Subotic remains in good spirits, confident he will be back much improved.
Under the circumstances I am doing relatively well. I can stay fit with individual training and when I have recuperated again I will be in better physical condition than ever before.

Subotic has been the subject of many transfer rumors which include links to Hamburg and Liverpool. Whether or not the center back has played his final game for Dortmund remains to be seen.
We wish a speedy recovery to you, Neven.
