With rumors swirling around from Bild and other sources, there seems to be a chance that Mario Götze could return to Borussia Dortmund. The reported fee is around 20 million Euros, and the Dortmund front office is planning ways to sell the transfer to the BVB fans.
These rumors are more than likely meaningless during an international break, but the idea of Götze leaving Bayern in the summer is not unreasonable. A move to Dortmund could make sense for him, if it weren't for the way he departed in 2013.
In Tuchel's system, Mario Götze would most likely be deployed out wide. His versatility would be his greatest asset for Tuchel, as Götze can effectively play most of the attacking positions. If Dortmund fail to extend Ilkay Gündoğan and/or Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Götze would be a very smart signing and an adequate attacking replacement.
However, it's not his quality and talent that make Dortmund fans hesitant about a possible return. Personally, I believe his move to FC Bayern was ill-timed, but not necessarily the wrong move for his career. I can understand why he left, but that didn't make it hurt any less. Needless to say, the transfer did not work out.
That being said, I would still take Mario Götze back at Dortmund. He's too talented of a player to pass up for 20 million Euros, which makes me hope the rumors are true.
