Just before the halftime whistle blew, Dortmund, down 1-0, continued to press Augsburg and were finally rewarded with a fortunate deflection.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan took a pass from Nuri Sahin inside the 18-yard box. Turning around, Mkhitaryan fired a shot that deflected off an Augsburg defender and into the back of the net for his tenth goal of the season.

The goal came with seconds remaining on the clock in the first half to knot the game at 1-1. Dortmund were denied moments before when Marco Reus had his shot stopped by Alex Manninger.

Dortmund dominated the first half, controlling 79.5% of the possession. Dortmund had five attempts on target to Augsburg's four. Augsburg, however, lead in shots on goal by a margin of 3-2.

BVB are playing without Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang today due to personal reasons, giving Adrian Ramos the chance to start at striker.

One of the top players for Dortmund so far has been Julian Weigl. The youngster has been very strong in possession with only a few giveaways, and is one of BVB's sturdiest players on defense.

In terms of distribution, Dortmund have made 484 passes at 90.3% accuracy. In the attacking half, Dortmund are passing at an astounding 97.4%.

Both teams have had one yellow card apiece. Mkhitaryan was booked for a foul in the 24th minute while Augsburg winger Caiuby was booked nine minutes later.

To start the second half, both teams have made substitutions. Marco Reus made way for Gonzalo Castro and Augsburg opted for Markus Feulner over Daniel Baier.
