Some good news just before Dortmund’s game with Augsburg!
The club have announced that Julian Weigl has officially signed a new contract. The new deal means that Weigl is contracted to BVB until 2021.

We don’t have any exact numbers, but it can be assumed that these new terms also mean a raise for Weigl.
The 21-year-old signed from 1860 Munich after the 2014/15 season, and it didn’t take him long to break into the first team. He made his debut for BVB, as a 19-year-old, in a 4-0 win over Monchengladbach in August of 2015.
He helped Dortmund to a second place finish last season and was quickly recognized as one of the brightest young midfielders in Europe.
The contract extension and salary-bump come at a crucial time, as big clubs in Europe are reportedly sniffing around Julian. Real Madrid are always a worry, and today they’ve just had their transfer ban shortened.
But for now he is only wearing black and yellow.
It did take him a while to score his first goal for the club, but it was worth the wait.
Here’s to many more years of Weigl at the Westfalenstadion, and hopefully a few more belters too!
