Dortmund Match Preview: Battle of the Borussia's

BVB look to regain their form against a struggling Mönchengladbach

Let’s be honest: this season has been very frustrating for Dortmund fans. The club seems to go from high to low, and back to high from one week to another. Injuries, poor form, and frustrating losses to bad opponents have made this year’s Hinrunde one to forget. Dortmund currently sit in seventh place, a full nine points behind RB Leipzig at the top of the table.

But hey, at least we’re not Gladbach fans, right?

It’s been a miserable year for Die Fohlen. They currently sit in 13th place, only 5 points above the relegation zone. Lars Stindl, who tied for 8th in Scoring in the Bundesliga last season, has been sub-par to start the year, with only three goals and one assist in 11 matches (much to the detriment of my fantasy team).

Calls are already being made for André Schubert to be replaced. A beatdown at the hands of Borussia Dortmund might be enough to tip the scales towards that decision.

Projected Lineups

With Marc Bartra struggling, it seems like Matthias Ginter may be given the starting spot at CB. After starting on the bench against Eintracht Frankfurt, Reus will likely get the start on the left, with a Weigl-Götze-Castro midfield. With Bürki out, Weidenfeller will get the start between the posts.

Prediction

Despite a roller coaster ride of bad form, Borussia Dortmund have still not been defeated at the Westfalenstadion. If Bayern Münich and Real Madrid couldn’t do it, then I doubt the Foals will be able to. Look for Reus to put one, or two, or ten past his old club. Also, let’s hope that Weidenfeller gets his first clean sheet since taking over for Bürki.

Prediction: BVB 3-0 BMG
