Last Week’s Record: 4-5 (2 Perfect Predictions*)
* - BMG 1-1 TSG; BER 2-1 M05
TEAM OF THE WEEK: Eintracht Frankfurt
PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Vedad Ibisevic
1. FSV Mainz 05 vs. Bayern Munich - Bayern 2-1
Munich has regained some traction in the league after an impressive win over Leverkusen last weekend. Against a team like Mainz that has struggled defensively all season, Munich should take a favorable result home with them.
Bayer Leverkusen vs. SC Freiburg - Leverkusen 3-0
Tough stretch for Freiburg but Leverkusen is too dynamic for the newly promoted side to handle. Leverkusen should enjoy an routine victory, nothing more really to say.
Werder Bremen vs. FC Ingolstadt - 1-1 draw
By far, the worst matchup of the week. Yes, I would rather subject myself to Hamburg/Darmstadt than this dandy match. Neither team really offers much, and both sides have been abysmal this year. They should each score, but no one’s a winner in this match, not even the two teams involved.
TSG Hoffenheim 1899 vs. 1. FC Koln - Hoffenheim 1-0
Koln was hitting its stride, and now it’s on a downward spiral. A trip to unbeaten Hoffenheim won’t do them any good in trying to rebound. Julian Nagelsmann’s Nagelsmenn (terrible, I know) should keep the donut in the loss column, though it won’t be easy.
VfL Wolfsburg vs. Hertha BSC Berlin - Berlin 2-0
Wolfsburg can’t score. That much we know. But only two goals at home?! A paltry total for the struggling Wolves. Meanwhile, Berlin isn’t that much better away from home but should be able to fend off the measly Wolfsburg attack.
RB Leipzig vs. FC Schalke - Leipzig 2-1
Leipzig has yet to suffer a Bundesliga loss and sits atop the table only 12 matches into the season. While Schalke has enjoyed a slight resurgence as of late, it doesn’t appear any team is ready to stop LawnBallSport any time soon, especially in Leipzig.
SV Darmstadt 98 vs. Hamburger SV - Darmstadt 1-0
Hamburg has scored a league-worst eight goals this season, including just a trio on the road. Darmstadt, while not excellent at home, has given some of the league’s top teams difficulty this season. Chalk this one up for SV98...they’re due anyways.
FC Augsburg vs. Eintracht Frankfurt - Frankfurt 2-0
Eintracht have only allowed three goals away from home. THREE! Compared to Augsburg’s nine allowed at home, coupled with Eintracht’s form this season, the road team should come out on top in this one.
Borussia Dortmund vs. Borussia Monchengladbach - Dortmund 2-0
Dortmund endured a tough loss last weekend but are determined to get back into the title picture this weekend. A win by two goals will make up for last weekend’s loss and give Dortmund confidence. Look for Marco Reus to get on the board this week.
