Quick Picks: Bundesliga Matchday 9

Lots of heavy-hitting match-ups in store for this weekend

Last Week’s Record: 4-5

Perfect Predictions: 2 (Bayern Munich, SC Freiburg)

TEAM OF THE WEEK: TSG 1899 Hoffenheim

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Nabil Bentaleb (S04)

Borussia Monchengladbach vs. Eintracht Frankfurt - Gladbach 2-1

Frankfurt has looked impressive so far this season, but heading into Borussia Park and coming away with a win will be a tough task for Eintracht. If they are to win, hats off too them. But in all likelihood, a close game will be won by the home side.

1. FSV Mainz 05 vs. FC Ingolstadt - Mainz 3-1

Ingolstadt came out flying against Dortmund last week before the wheels fell off in the second half. Mainz, on the other hand, fell far short of expectation in Gelsenkirchen and will have homefield on their side. Three unanswered goals by Mainz will tilt this one in favor of the home side.

FC Augsburg vs. Bayern Munich - 2-2 draw

Tough to bet against Bayern ever, but in a derby match against high-flyers Augsburg, Saturday’s match is shaping up to be a tightly contested one for both side. Bayern will pull it back late to force a draw on the road.

SV Darmstadt 98 vs. RB Leipzig - 2-1 Leipzig

It’s rare to see a road team win in Bundesliga play, but Leipzig looks poised to pull off this feat once again. After a convincing win last weekend over Wolfsburg, Darmstadt also carries heavy momentum into this one. It’s a toss-up, but Leipzig should come out on top.

Werder Bremen vs. SC Freiburg - 2-1 Bremen

Freiburg has looked stellar this season but on the road at Bremen will perhaps be too tall of a task for the newly-promoted side. Bremen’s defense has been woeful at times this season but at home it has been solid. Meanwhile, Freiburg has yet to collect a point away from home this season.

VfL Wolfsburg vs. Bayer Leverkusen - 1-1 draw

Both teams have endured serious struggles as of late and facing each other won’t fix any problems. It will likely be an even, sloppy game with the sides splitting the points.

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim vs. Hertha BSC Berlin - 2-2 draw

Add another one to the “expect the unexpected” column this week as Hertha’s impressive road form looks unlikely to crack at Hoffenheim. A win away at Ingolstadt and a 1-1 draw at Dortmund have been the two highlights of the year for Hertha, and Berlin’s stalwart play on the road will be tough to match, even for Hoffenheim.

1. FC Koln vs. Hamburger SV - Koln 4-0

Here’s the blowout we’ve all been waiting for. Koln will be unchallenged this weekend against bottom-dwellers Hamburg and an offensive outburst looks to be on the cards.

Borussia Dortmund vs. FC Schalke 04 - 3-2 BVB

Even though BVB is struggling right now this is the Revierderby. There are no rules, there is no momentum, they have to win. I just have to predict a Dortmund win and honestly with derby-hero Matthias Ginter in our squad what could possibly go wrong.
