Borussia Dortmund's potential deals for Yunus Malli and Mikel Merino appear to be falling through.
Dortmund have been in hot pursuit of Turkish international Yunus Malli. The Mainz 05 midfielder has been impressive thus far in the Bundesliga and looked likely to be reuniting with his former manager Thomas Tuchel.
However, Dortmund failed to sign the 23-year-old during this window. Although a summer move to Dortmund is a possibility, Malli has admitted to Bild that he would like to play in England.
"There was interest from England, yes. It has now become a general knowledge that I have a release clause."
With a 9.5 million euro-release clause alluded to by Malli, many top English clubs will look to swoop the talented Turk.

Another transfer Dortmund looked to complete was a move for Osasuna midfielder Mikel Merino.
The Spaniard is a recently revealed target for Dortmund and looked extremely likely to sign with the German giants.
According to Marca, the Spanish side has pulled out of the deal for Merino meaning Dortmund has missed out.
The clubs had agreed on a five million euro transfer for Merino, but as the deal was about to be done, Osasuna reconsidered sighting an insufficient fee.

Dortmund are still hopeful that they can complete the move for Merino and have until the end of the month to make a new deal with Osasuna.
The 19-year-old has already made 50 appearances for the Spanish Second League side, scoring twice.
Other deals Dortmund have been linked with this January include Atletico Madrid's Oliver Torres, Dynamo Kyiv's Andriy Yarmolenko, and FK Partizan's Andrija Zivkovic.
The transfer window will slam shut at the end of the day on February 1.
