Dortmund look to steal Luka Jovic from Benfica

The Portugese newspaper Record has hinted that Borussia Dortmund may become a frontrunner in the race for Serbian youngster Luka Jovic.

The 18-year-old forward currently plays for Red Star Belgrade and has scored 12 goals in 15 league starts.

He has yet to staple himself in a permanent starting role, and has performed well since his May 2014 debut, a game in which he scored.

The previous favorite to land Jovic was Benfica, as it would have meant a reunion with fellow Serbia U-19 striker Ivan Saponjic.

Dortmund, as claimed by the Record, is prepared to offer Luka Jovic a higher salary than Benfica.

Landing Jovic should be simple, as a majority share of the economic rights on Jovic's contract have already been sold to an investment company.
